Introduction

LH-1808 is a fully automatic liquid handler for primary-tube loading and tube-to-plate or plate-to-plate work. Interchangeable 1- to 32-channel heads cover 0.5–1000 μL, including the steps through qPCR setup. Optional modules include barcode, liquid-level detection, thermal control, shaking, blood separation, and magnetic separation.

Deck

Thirty positions support a 4×24 tube rack plus 25 plates for primary-tube loading, extraction, and qPCR setup in one layout, or a full 30-plate deck for high-throughput transfer, screening, or NGS library construction.

Automatic head change

Heads use air-displacement pumps. Barrels are a hard, light alloy with a wear coating and can be swapped in the field. Matched tips are QC-checked for seal, residual volume, and leaks.

Barcode and liquid-level detection

Barcode reading and liquid-level detection run in the same pass. The scanner accepts 1D and 2D codes; the software logs results in parallel to cut time and transcription error.

Lift module

A lift deck raises tubes so liquid surfaces sit on one plane for parallel aspiration and fewer missed or short pulls.

Blood-separation carousel

The carousel reads 1D and 2D barcodes, logs sample IDs, and can export a spreadsheet. It finds the buffy coat, separates serum, and loads primary collection tubes with heads matched to the volume.

PCR module

The PCR module covers repeated heat and cool steps and limits evaporation, including NGS library construction, Sanger sequencing, enzyme reactions, and hybridization.

Triple temperature-control module

A triple closed-chamber thermal block holds ambient, 6 °C to room temperature, and room temperature to 110 °C. Use it for cold enzyme storage, volatile or light-sensitive reagents, and incubations in an automated method.

Heating and shaking module

Heating and shaking are combined in one module, so both can run at the same time without taking a second deck position.

Temperature-control module

The thermal module covers 4–95 °C for lysis, bead elution, and cold hold of enzyme reagents. An aluminum adapter speeds ramps and reduces well-to-well temperature error.

Magnetic-separation module

Ring or column magnetic racks for 96-well plates make bead capture and elution fast. Methods are tuned for large-volume capture and small-volume elution.
