Introduction
LH-1209 is an automated liquid handler for magnetic-bead nucleic-acid extraction and purification. It is built around a 96-channel pipetting module with magnetic separation, thermal control, shaking, and a software console, and is used in clinical laboratories, blood centers, hospitals, CDC sites, and research institutes.
Deck
Twenty-five standard positions hold thermal, shaking, and magnetic modules in any layout. The open deck accepts third-party kits. One loading can run nucleic-acid extraction or library cleanup for 192 samples and keep several methods on the deck at once.
High-throughput pipetting head
A 96-channel head processes a full plate in one pass with air-displacement pipetting. Barrels are a hard, light alloy with a wear coating and are simple to replace. Matched tips are QC-checked for seal, residual volume, and leaks.
Heating and shaking module
Heating and shaking are combined in one module, so both can run at the same time without taking a second deck position.
Temperature-control module
The thermal module covers 4–95 °C for lysis, bead elution, and cold hold of enzyme reagents. An aluminum adapter speeds ramps and reduces well-to-well temperature error.
Magnetic-separation module
Ring or column magnetic racks for 96-well plates make bead capture and elution fast. Methods are tuned for large-volume capture and small-volume elution.
High-precision arm
The XYZ arm, head, and gripper are one assembly, positioned to 0.1 mm on 96- and 384-well plates for moving plates and tip boxes. A five-day, 24-hour burn-in is run before shipment.
Emergency stop
An emergency stop halts the instrument at any step to protect operators and samples. The interlock engages and clears quickly.
Graphical interface
The software shows the deck layout while a method runs. Programming is sequential and open; methods can pause and resume after a fault, and parameters can be customized for the application.
Tip positions
Tip positions have a spring that cushions the head and seats barrels on the tips.
