Fully automatic sample preparation system

A high-throughput automated sample-preparation system on a 30-position deck. 96- and 384-channel heads run NGS library construction for 96 samples or magnetic-bead cleanup for 384 samples in one pass.

Introduction

iLab-300R is a high-throughput automated sample-preparation system: a precision pipetting module, contamination control, and a software console. Optional magnetic, thermal, shaking, PCR, and quantification modules attach to the deck.

High-throughput pipetting head

Five heads are available: 96-channel 70 μL, 96-channel 250 μL, 96-channel 1000 μL, 384-channel 70 μL, and 24-channel 1000 μL.

Deck

Thirty open positions hold magnetic, thermal, shaking, PCR, and quantification modules in any layout and accept third-party kits. One loading can run nucleic-acid extraction or library cleanup for 384 samples.

Multifunction arm

A single XYZ arm positions to 0.1 mm on 96- and 384-well plates and grips, moves, and places plates.

Magnetic rack

Ring or column magnetic racks for 96-well plates make bead capture and elution fast. Methods are tuned for large-volume capture and small-volume elution.

Temperature-control module

The thermal module covers 4–95 °C for lysis, bead elution, and cold hold of enzyme reagents. An aluminum adapter speeds ramps and reduces well-to-well temperature error.

Heating and shaking module

Heating and shaking are combined in one module, so both can run at the same time without taking a second deck position.

PCR module

The PCR module is tuned for even well temperatures through heat and cool steps: NGS and long-read library construction, Sanger sequencing, enzyme reactions, and hybridization.

Emergency stop

An emergency stop halts the instrument at any step to protect operators and samples. The interlock engages and clears quickly.

Control software

A graphical console shows component status, arm position, step, and remaining time. Methods can pause and resume at any point; parameters can be set for the protocol.

Graphical interface

The software shows the deck layout while a method runs. Programming is sequential and open; methods can pause and resume after a fault, and parameters can be customized for the application.
