Pize
Terms of Use
Last updated: August 26, 2026
Pize is an AI coding assistant for scientific computing and statistical analysis. It runs in Pize Code and Positron, and also ships as an SDK. These Terms of Use govern your use of Pize Code, Positron, the SDK, and the pize.ai website.
Agreement
By accessing or using the software, website, or related services, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use them.
How we process personal data is described in the Privacy Notice. These Terms of Use do not replace that notice.
This statement does not waive duties that applicable law does not allow a software provider to disclaim.
The Software and Services
Pize provides an AI coding assistant for scientific computing and statistical analysis. It runs in Pize Code and Positron, and also ships as an SDK. The pize.ai website describes the product, hosts documentation and a catalog, and accepts release-update subscriptions and demo requests.
Pize software and related access options are provided subject to these Terms. You are responsible for confirming that a selected option meets your needs before use.
Software and Access
Pize software and related services may change as we update them. Review the applicable documentation and these Terms before use.
Actions You Approve
The assistant may read files, write code, run commands, open a browser, or call tools after you approve. Those actions are your actions. You are responsible for what happens after you approve them.
Review and Independent Verification
Outputs can be wrong, incomplete, or unsafe even when they look correct. That includes generated code, statistical methods, numbers, plots, citations, and experiment plans.
You must review a draft before it enters the next experiment, a paper, a production system, or any other use that can affect people, data, or equipment. You are solely responsible for that verification.
Do not treat generated citations, datasets, statistics, or results as published or verified. Fabricated data, invented references, and incorrect statistics remain your responsibility if you use them in a paper, grant, thesis, or report. Pize does not endorse any publication.
No Professional or Regulatory Advice
Pize is not a substitute for professional judgment. The software and website do not provide licensed scientific, statistical, engineering, medical, legal, or financial advice, and they are not a certification, safety approval, or regulatory opinion.
Catalog pages and product manuals may mention research uses, including publicly described laboratory or clinical research. That content does not mean Pize is a medical device, or that any described procedure is safe or approved for your use.
Laboratories, Instruments, and Physical Harm
You may connect Pize, the SDK, or related interfaces to databases, instrument software, or other systems. Wrong code or a wrong parameter can damage samples, equipment, or people.
You are responsible for interlocks, emergency stops, human approval before a command reaches equipment, and for following the instrument maker’s manuals. Do not give a model an unlocked path that can move, fire, or reconfigure laboratory equipment.
Pize is not responsible for personal injury, sample loss, equipment damage, laboratory accidents, or failed experiments that arise from how you or another user use the software or website.
Provided As Is
The software, website, and related services are provided as is and as available. Pize does not warrant that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, fit for a particular research or production purpose, or that data will not be lost.
We do not promise a service level unless you and Pize later agree to one in a signed writing. Enterprise terms are arranged by contact.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Pize is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, including lost data, failed experiments, retracted publications, lost funding, lost profits, or lost goodwill.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Pize’s total responsibility for a claim arising from the software, website, or related services is limited to the amount you paid Pize for those services in the 12 months before the claim, or zero if you paid nothing.
This limitation does not waive duties that applicable law does not allow a software provider to disclaim.
Your Use, Including Illegal Use
You decide how to use the software and website. You must use them in accordance with applicable law. Pize does not authorize, condone, or participate in illegal activity.
If you use the software or website to commit, attempt, or facilitate an illegal act, or otherwise violate applicable law, you are solely responsible for that use. Pize is not responsible for illegal, unauthorized, or harmful use by you or any other user, and is not responsible for loss, damage, claim, or penalty arising from that use.
You also agree not to attack the service, circumvent security or abuse-protection checks, distribute malware, scrape the site in a way that harms the service, or share account credentials in a way that violates these Terms of Use.
If your use causes a third party to make a claim against Pize, you are responsible for that claim and for the reasonable cost of defending it, except to the extent the claim is caused by Pize’s own breach of a duty that applicable law does not allow us to shift.
Your Content and Third Parties
You are responsible for prompts, files, data, and other content you submit. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit that content. Pize is not responsible for intellectual-property claims arising from content you submit.
You grant Pize a limited license to host, transmit, and process that content only as needed to operate the software and website. This license is not a right to use your content to train a Pize foundation model. Third-party model providers have their own practices, described in the Privacy Notice.
Pize does not claim ownership of prompts or outputs you generate. We do not warrant that outputs are yours to use, are free of third-party rights, or may be published. A third-party model provider’s terms govern its outputs.
Do not submit export-controlled, classified, another person’s confidential, or patient or human-subject data unless you have a lawful basis and accept that the content may leave your systems, including to a model provider when you use keys provided by Pize.
Third-party model providers, hosting, authentication, email, and payment providers, and host editors such as Positron, have their own terms. Pize is not responsible for their outages, outputs, training practices, or policy changes. If you use your own API keys, you send data to that provider directly.
The catalog lists instruments and links to product manuals. Those manuals are vendor materials, not Pize software. They do not mean Pize manufactures, sells, or endorses the instrument, and they do not replace the vendor’s safety instructions. Instrument specifications, papers, and related catalog text come from public sources or vendors. They may be incomplete or out of date. Pize does not warrant the scientific accuracy of catalog content.
Accounts, Keys, and Payment
You are responsible for account credentials, seats, and API keys, including keys you bring yourself and keys Pize provides. You are responsible for who you allow to use them.
If you open an account or seat for a laboratory, university, or other group, you are responsible for how members you allow use that seat.
Self-serve usage is prepaid credits. One credit is one US cent. Stripe collects the payment. Payment does not guarantee a particular scientific or production result.
Prepaid credits are not refundable, are not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and expire. Unused or expired credits have no cash value. To the extent applicable law requires a refund we cannot disclaim, that law controls.
Suspension and Changes
Pize may suspend or refuse access when needed to stop abuse, illegal use, or harm to the service, and is not responsible for that suspension.
We may update these Terms of Use. When we do, we will change the date at the beginning. Continued use after publication means you accept the updated terms, except where applicable law requires a different process.
